when I started this blog five years ago, I was a pet sitter and the name animal-crackers made sense. now I'm a stay-at-home-dad and freelance writer, but rather than confuse everyone by getting a different blog, it's just easier to keep posting things here.

summer time
It's been a hot summer. Like Satan's armpit hot. Record-breaking hot.
But we're making do. Josh joined the swim team. Every day, for five weeks he practiced.
More importantly, he got to enjoy the neighborhood pool, which is just at the end of our block.
Dylan's been rocking the sunglasses.
Today we went to a different park, where the boys got to hike around a pond.
And there was a playground.
Aren't they so cute?
Also, a house sparrow decided to nest in a potted plant on our front porch. She had three eggs, which hatched a few days ago.
