when I started this blog five years ago, I was a pet sitter and the name animal-crackers made sense. now I'm a stay-at-home-dad and freelance writer, but rather than confuse everyone by getting a different blog, it's just easier to keep posting things here.

Josh's birthday party
Josh had a birthday on Friday. The big 0-7!
And on Saturday, we celebrated in style. We reserved a picnic area at Northwest Park, got some burgers and hot dogs, balloons, and a cake.
There were 15 kids -- and everyone played nicely. They climbed all over the playscapes and wandered along the edge of the woods.
When it was time to eat, everyone wiped the swine flu from their grubby little fingers.
Mostly, it was laid back. No drama. Nothing loud. Just relaxing.
